The defending 6 Nations champions England had no problem disposing of Scotland in their first game of the tournament. England were 27-0 up at half-time having scored five tries and added another four after the break as Scotland struggled to contain a rampant away side who dominated throughout. England ended the game strongly with a late try to secure a 47-0 win.

France ran out 32-0 winners though a better second half from the Italians meant the comformtable win wasn't more given French dominance. The game was played in freezing weather with the temerature hitting -7 during the match.
