Scotland have announced that the head coach of its first national women’s rugby sevens squad will be former Scotland sevens captain and Glasgow Warriors back row forward, Scott Forrest. Trials for the squad have been taking place in Scotland and London (for exiles) over the last four weeks, led by Forrest, with aim of qualification for the 2013 Women's Sevens Rugby World Cup.

The women’s rugby sides of Italy and Scotland are both vying to avoid the Wooden Spoon as they go into the final clash of the tournament this Sunday seeking a first win. The game in Brescia could also be vital in terms of both sides hopes of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup with points from standings this year going towards qualification

Ireland will go to England in the last round of the women’s 6 Nations with a Triple Crown still in their sights after a 20-0 win over Scotland. In a stop start game, the home side won well without ever getting into fifth gear as the Scotland’s wait goes on to score their first points of this tournament.

France kept their unbeaten run intact with a 23-0 win over Scotland in the first women’s rugby international held at Stirling RFC. France mastered the catch-and-drive line-out grabbing three of their tries from that particular area. After the game Scotland head coach Karen Findlay voiced her frustration with the level of refereeing at this year’s tournament.
