Former New Zealand World Cup winning captain Farah Palmer says the Black Ferns recent losses in England highlight that resources allocated to women's rugby in her country have reached a critical level. Palmer, who led New Zealand to three World Cup wins,  wrote a column for the Otago Daily Times about the series.

Website editor Ali Donnelly says that some good may come out of their two losses to England for the Black Ferns. New Zealand were beaten twice in England but drew the last game 8-8. Donnelly argues that maybe now the time has come for the NZRU to invest in their women's team.

England and New Zealand played out an 8-8 draw at Esher in a tenacious game of international women’s rugby. The Black Ferns had more than enough chances to win the game in the final ten minutes but poor handling and crucial errors let them down. New Zealand had already won the series 2-0.

New Zealand women’s rugby coach Grant Hansen conceded that the better team won on the day in the second test between his side and England at Esher. England won the game 21-7 to secure the series after just two games,  having also won at Twickenham at the weekend.

England scored a hugely impressive 21-7 win over World Champions New Zealand at Esher to clinch the three test series after their second win in three days. The hosts looked far too powerful throughout the game with a number of their young players shining on a night when they outscored the opposition three tries to one.
